Sonya is in her penultimate year of the Juris Doctor program. Prior to commencing her legal studies, she completed a Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of Teaching. In 2013, she was recognised by the University of New England as a Vice Chancellor’s Scholar for outstanding academic achievement. Sonya majored in English and French, and spent seven months teaching English at Lycée Paul-Louis Courier in Tours, France after her graduation. The intellectually rigorous nature of a career in the law motivated her to return to university.
Sonya grew up on a farm in Tamworth in the North West region of NSW, although she considers herself to be a convert to city life. When she isn’t studying, Sonya enjoys playing netball, participating in trivia competitions and indulging her Anglophilia by reading British literature. She also currently works as a paralegal at Allens. This is her second year on the Journal.
