Sonya Campbell

Sonya is in her final year of the Juris Doctor program. Prior to commencing her legal studies, she completed a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching at the University of New England. Sonya majored in English and French, and spent seven months teaching English at Lycée Paul-Louis Courier in Tours, France after her graduation. The intellectually rigorous nature of a career in the law motivated her to return to university. Over the summer of 2016-2017, she clerked at Herbert Smith Freehills. Sonya was on the 2016 UNSW Law Dean’s List for her achievements in Land Law and Law and Social Theory. She was also a member of the champion Ashurst Australian Private Law Moot team in 2016. Sonya grew up on a farm in Tamworth in the North West region of NSW, although she considers herself to be a convert to city life. When she isn’t studying, Sonya enjoys playing netball, participating in trivia competitions and reading British literature. This is her third year on the Journal.
